My favourite things (Just because it's FRIDAY)

Just incase you forgot (Even though thats hard to imagine thanks to one Rebecca Black - Just Saying)!

Here is a list of some of my favourite places to spend my time on this lovely place we call the 'interweb' ...

  1. DogHouseDiaries (http://thedoghousediaries.com/): Mostly dry, Often Nerdy, Always Hysterical ... I LOVE these guys!
  2. Pinterest (http://pinterest.com/): Best place for idea's, inspiration or random browsing ... like a good book store!
  3. This is why I'm broke (http://www.thisiswhyimbroke.com/): It's awesome, I don't need to explain why ... Just go look for yourself!
  4. The Fancy (http://www.thefancy.com/): I am continually facinated & inspired by the incredible things people create ... this is like a great coffee table book ... that interacts with you .... You can get my christmas shopping list here (& maybe afford anything on the list after marrying the likes of Donald Trump or Richard Branson)
  5. TechCrunch (http://techcrunch.com/startups/): Where I get my daily dose of 'What's happening in the world of Tech'
  6. YuppieChef (http://www.yuppiechef.co.za/): 'Cos I am happy in a kitchen as is ... can you imagine my enthusiasm toward a kitchen filled with stuff from here?!?!
  7. SmrtFox (https://www.smrtfox.com/): This is our baby ... it's still finding it's feet, but the concept is great & the chance to WIN prizes for basically nothing is AWESOME - 'nuff said!
Have a look at these, I can assure you will not be disappointed!

Happy Friday Peeps!

Guess whose back ... hopefully!

So, I'm attempting to re-emerge from the cave I have been living in for the last month or more!  Bear with me while I try & get back in the swing of things ... and attempt to establish some form of normal brain functionality!

At work we have been launching a site, or as I prefer to refer to it ... We have been creating, growing, caring for a baby ... that we have finally set loose on the World!  It's a scary thing to do, but has exposed me to a part of this planet that I am very quickly falling head-over-heels in love with!  I have discovered that I have an absolute & complete LOVE for TECH ... Nerdy, Giddy, Exciting, Butterflies-in-my-Stomach kind of first LOVE!

First love is not without it's challenges, as we are well aware!  I have an immense amount of catching up to do, there is just so much to learn, which is only further complicated by the rapid way in which the industry changes & evolves every minute of the day ... Nobody ever said it would be easy .... (I'm not going to continue with that cliche).

Moving on ...

So whilst we chip away at an idea we had & a platform we have created, I am now going to try & balance my life ... Here's to hoping I have the time & inspiration to keep a these Mumblings coming & hoping they make some sort of sense :)

Thing's I learnt this weekend ...

I LOVE weekends, I know we all do, but I thought I'd start by stating the obvious ... Nothing quite beats spending quality time with your friends, family, the sunshine & your bed & pillow!

I had a truly spectacular weekend, here are a few things I learnt:-

  1. No matter how many spin classes you attend or Yoga sessions you put yourself through ... It WILL NOT prepare you for a casual game of beach volleyball with your mates. EVERYTHING (and I mean EVERYTHING) will hurt the next day!  Arm, Shoulder, Peck from serving & hitting .... Legs & ass from running in sand (who knew it was that much different), stomach from rolling on the ground with laughter when you realise how useless you all are!
  2. Parties can have incredible DJ line-ups & fantastic people ... but if there are not enough people to fill your huge venue, the vibe will hit a slippery slope to an awkward crash at the end when you realise you're over it
  3. 8am sunday spin classes seem like a good idea on saturday afternoon, then seem like a really bad idea when you wake up on sunday, then seem like a good idea when you actually make it to the gym in time, then seem like a bad idea about 5 minutes into the class when your body goes on strike ... and then finally, feels like a good idea once its over & you can eat decadent brekki without so much as a guilty thought!
  4. A fully kitted out tent caravan does not count as camping ... you may as well take your own hotel or just book into the closest lodge ... If you are going to rough it ... do it properly!
  5. Crazy, Stupid Love is a good movie - Go Watch It!
  6. People will surprise you ... but nobody can surprise me better than I surprise myself!

Happy Monday Folks - Do something outside, beautiful days & sunshine are good for you!

The Rules for being Human

When you were born, you didn't come with an owner's manual; these guidelines make life work better.

  1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's the only thing you are sure to keep for the rest of your life.
  2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called "Life on Planet Earth". Every person or incident is the Universal Teacher.
  3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of experimentation. "Failures" are as much a part of the process as "success."
  4. A lesson is repeated until learned. It is presented to you in various forms until you learn it -- then you can go on to the next lesson.
  5. If you don't learn easy lessons, they get harder. External problems are a precise reflection of your internal state. When you clear inner obstructions, your outside world changes. Pain is how the universe gets your attention.
  6. You will know you've learned a lesson when your actions change. Wisdom is practice. A little of something is better than a lot of nothing.
  7. "There" is no better than "here". When your "there" becomes a "here" you will simply obtain another "there" that again looks better than "here."
  8. Others are only mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another unless it reflects something you love or hate in yourself.
  9. Your life is up to you. Life provides the canvas; you do the painting. Take charge of your life -- or someone else will.
  10. You always get what you want. Your subconscious rightfully determines what energies, experiences, and people you attract -- therefore, the only foolproof way to know what you want is to see what you have. There are no victims, only students.
  11. There is no right or wrong, but there are consequences. Moralizing doesn't help. Judgments only hold the patterns in place. Just do your best.
  12. Your answers lie inside you. Children need guidance from others; as we mature, we trust our hearts, where the Laws of Spirit are written. You know more than you have heard or read or been told. All you need to do is to look, listen, and trust.
  13. You will forget all this.
  14. You can remember any time you wish.

I recently lost a friend who decided that 'there' was better than 'here' - to him, I hope you are happier & finally at peace, I know your life on this side was always turbulent!

To those of us that choose to stay & fight it out, remember that it's almost always worth, remember that in every situation there is SOMETHING good you only have to look for it, and remember you are loved more than you may realise & by people you may never have thought would!

Appreciate every little thing in your life!
